Five Simple Steps That Helped Me Reconnect with Faith, Purpose & Peace
Here's what this season of my life has been reminding me of. Maybe it's something you need too. 🌿
Somewhere around forty-five...
I realized I had spent so many years taking care of everyone else...
That I wasn't quite sure who I was anymore.
That realization didn't happen all at once.
It happened quietly.
One ordinary day at a time.
The kids had grown up.
Life had changed.
The business still needed me.
The house still needed me.
Everyone still seemed to need something.
And somewhere in the middle of trying to take care of all of it...
I slowly stopped paying attention to myself.
Not because I wanted to.
It just happened.
I was always thinking about what needed to be done next.
Always planning.
Always solving problems.
Always trying to stay one step ahead.
I had become so busy managing life...
That I forgot to actually live it.
I stopped looking forward to things.
I spent less time with friends.
I drifted away from simple moments that once brought me joy.
And the hardest part?
I didn't even realize it was happening.
For a long time...
I thought I had lost myself.
Now I think something different.
I don't think I lost myself completely.
I think I simply became so busy carrying responsibilities...
That I stopped making room for the woman God was still shaping me into.
That realization changed everything.
Not overnight.
Not dramatically.
Just one small step at a time.
I didn't wake up one morning with a perfect plan.
I didn't suddenly know exactly who I was again.
I simply started taking one small step.
A slower walk.
A quiet prayer.
A little more honesty.
A little less rushing.
A little more time noticing what was right in front of me.
Looking back...
None of those things seemed very significant on their own.
But together...
They slowly started leading me back to myself.
Walking became part of that journey.
Not because the mailbox was important.
Because the pause was.
Some mornings, a simple walk to the mailbox with Bailey gave me a few minutes to breathe.
Pray.
Notice.
Listen.
And remember that life isn't measured only by what I accomplish.
It's also shaped by the quiet moments that restore me.
The business still has deadlines.
There are still responsibilities.
Hard seasons still come.
But I'm learning that peace isn't found after everything gets finished.
Sometimes it's found right in the middle of an ordinary day.
Maybe that's what finding ourselves really looks like.
Not becoming someone completely different.
But slowly coming home to the person God has been shaping all along.
One small step at a time.
🌿 What I'm Learning
For a long time...
I thought finding myself again meant making one big change.
Now I think it begins much smaller.
One honest conversation.
One quiet prayer.
One slower walk.
One small decision to come back to what matters.
Maybe we don't find ourselves all at once.
Maybe we simply come home to ourselves...
One ordinary day at a time.

A Verse for This Journey
"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
— Matthew 11:28
Something to Take With You
If you've spent so much time taking care of everyone and everything else that you're not quite sure where you went...
You don't have to figure it all out today.
Maybe coming back to yourself doesn't begin with changing your entire life.
Maybe it starts with one small thing.
A quiet prayer.
A little fresh air.
Calling someone you've missed.
Doing something you used to enjoy.
Sitting still for a few minutes without feeling guilty about it.
Or simply admitting that something needs to change.
Ask yourself:
What's one small step I could take today to come back to what matters—and make a little room for myself again?
You don't have to see the whole road.
Sometimes one small step is enough for today. ☀️
Still Choosing You
I'm slowly writing Still Choosing You, where I'll share more about finding ourselves again through marriage, faith, changing seasons, and the quiet work of continuing to choose the life and people that matter to us.
Some of the lessons I'm writing about started in seasons just like this one.
