We started Durrett (Transport) Recovery in 2015 after 13 years experience in the towing profession. We are experienced with different types of towing such as AAA emergency roadside services, towing inoperable vehicles with no keys or even wheels at times, winching and recovering vehicles from ditches and minor accidents to delivering brand new vehicles to dealers for them to prep for the new buyer or transporting someones pride and joy classic car to a show where the utmost care, caution and expertise must be taken.
After my 20 years real estate experience and my husbands 13 years experience in towing prior to starting the business we decided to marry in 2013 and start our own towing business two years later. My husband's dream was to be a tow truck driver for his own business and my dream was to own and manage my own business utilizing my business and professional skills. Our passions collided and we soon realized we were a great team and complemented each other very well. I've learned everything I know about towing from him and even though he resists the office atmosphere, he's come a long with with his business skills. Both of us had people skills, but not much confidence in ourselves. This changed and grew throughout the years as we learned what we could accomplish together. Anything is possible as long as you have the drive for it!
With so much love and knowledge for the towing industry, we knew we still had so much more that we wanted to give and share beyond our towing skills. During Covid, we had to adjust and work around the challenges and setbacks that came along with that. In the midst of something terrible, we wanted to help more than what we were doing so we started our online store to share knowledge and recommend some of the most efficient towing equipment and safety products that we've used and the best suppliers in the business that we've had the pleasure of working with. We are also dog lovers and have had them ride with us all the time so we also want to share advice on keeping them safe and comfortable. Our goal is to help our fellow towers and truckers quickly find supplies and information, provide guidance to newer, small companies just starting out and assist the public that we work with everyday to keep everyone safe and legal on the road. The research and experience we can provide on these products will save others a lot of time and money. We also hope any sales will help us with the high overhead that you encounter in this business with the fuel cost, repair and maintenance cost and insurance just to name a few.
Our daughter, Katelyn Durrett, after being in a tow truck with her dad since she was able to walk and climb up in a truck is now working with us making us even more complete! She has a mountain of knowledge about towing and an even bigger heart for it. She is her fathers daughters and an integral part of the business. She brings her tech knowledge, people skills, kind heart, good work ethic and extreme love and knowledge for towing! It's an amazing gift to have your children working with you sharing your passion and working as family together in life and business!
